His Excellency Ambassador Nelson Ocheger, the High Commissioner, Uganda High Commission, Abuja –Nigeria, and who also oversees other countries in West Africa, is one of our cherished supporters for our CPAR Uganda Ltd Mentoring Young Adults into Innovators Against Poverty programme. So, it is not surprising that when we emailed him that our Prof. Fred Opio Ekong Memorial Library, a crucial component of our mentoring programme, was now open and we were inviting him to apply and become a member, he wrote back informing us:

“This is agreeable to me. In addition, is it possible for you to identify two bright but needy undergraduate students (boy and girl) that I would assist access this library services?”

And boom, in addition, he had inspired us to create a sub-project on our GlobalGiving Fundraising page: “Gift Library Access to Uganda Young Adults”. The process, indeed, has begun of recruiting the first cohort of young adults who will begin their mentorship with us in January 2020; and two of the successful young adults will benefit from the gift of library access from Ambassador Ocheger. Read more on our call for applications here and interest young adults to apply. The deadline is 22nd November.

We invite you as well to be inspired by Ambassador Ocheger and to gift a young adult with library access to our Prof. Fred Opio Ekong Memorial Library for one year at UGX 200,000 (two hundred thousand shillings), about US$ 53 (fifty three US dollars); or for six months at UGX 100,000 (one hundred thousand shillings) about US$ 27 (twenty seven US dollars) or for one month at UGX 30,000 (thirty thousand shillings), which is less than US$ 10 (ten US dollars).

This is how you can make your donation:

Option 1: Directly, using your debit or credit card or other online banking, go to our page on the GlobalGiving online fundraising platform, through this link http://goto.gg/42871, and when you get to the page, choose if you want to donate once or to donate monthly. Enter the amount you want to donate and follow the instructions.

Option 2: You can give us the cash – through bank deposit, or mobile money, or cash pick up by us; and we will buy a GlobalGiving Gift Card in your name and we will ensure that your donation is received and recorded on our GlobalGiving page. Give us a call on +256 788 562 571 and we will provide you with details of how to make your donation.

The advantage of donating through GlobalGiving is that we may be able to get matching grants from GlobalGiving Foundation and so your gift may be amplified and thus benefiting more young adults. Our sub-project has a 90 day life-span, during which we have tasked ourselves to generate US$ 1,500 in donations for library access fees for 25 young adults. So, essentially, your library access donation that you make now is an early Christmas Gift to a deserving young adult(s) in Uganda.

Thank you!
