Today, 3rd June 2025, was the 140th Uganda Martyrs Day commemoration. Reportedly, more than 600,000 pilgrims from around the world attended the celebrations at the Namugogo Martyrs’ Shrine.
The Most Reverend Archbishop Emeritus Henry Luke Orombi, the 7th Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, delivered the sermon at the protestant side of the shrine.
He spoke of the loss of our nation’s moral conscience – prevalence of rights abuses, blood shed and political apathy.
He spoke of political arrogance and urged all to cling to good, to hate evil, and to associate with the lowly.
He cautioned that “if you take God out of the nation, the nation loses her soul.” Urging Christians that they must light the world through truth and humility.
