The past informs goals

Storytelling through art and images.

One of our current goals is to re-brand our Dr. Paul Hargrave Memorial Center so that it is befittingly recognized tor the generous gifts in memory of the late Dr. Paul David Hargrave.

The Center is a gift from his kin, colleagues, friends and wider community, the people of Canada, whose contribution via Canadian Physicians for Aid and Relief (CPAR), enabled the construction of the Center for the benefit of disadvantaged communities of Northern Uganda.

In addition, this year, a legacy grant in his memory will make it possible for CPAR Uganda and CPAR to jointly implement a Human Development Project at the the Center. A project which will directly benefit hundreds of persons from disadvantaged communities of Northern Uganda.

CPAR Uganda is grateful to Visual Storyteller Emmanuel George Owaraga II, who in the past and present generously lends us his expertise in-kind. His most recent gift-in-kind, design of the logo for our Dr. Paul Hargrave Memorial Centre.

Value gifts in-kind, especially expertise given freely.

How befitting it is that a youth from Northern Uganda, from a disadvantaged background, from Acet Village in Omoro District, in Acholi Sub-Region, is the one who is doing the artwork to create the metal sheets bearing the larger size logo to be mounted on the two buildings at the Center.

Emmanuel Nyeko, against all odds, has become a great artist. We remembered him from three years ago, when he was recommended to us and he did a good job of drawing long lasting murals that livened a former parking shed at the Center.

Our goals are indeed rooted in our past – our past experiences inform our goals always.
