Many a times, we, in the nonprofit world, find ourselves constrained by finances and are not able to afford the luxury of contracting external service providers to do crucial work that needs to be done.
Things that we previously assumed impossible for us to do, we find that we can do if we dare to try.
One of them for us at CPAR Uganda, is actually our website, this website.
Prior, we depended on a great IT expert to design and maintain for us one, but we were unable to sustain the costs. His work was great and if we could afford it, we would have continued to retain his services.
We had no choice, but to dare do it ourselves.
With tutorials from WordPress, within our means, we established this our less elaborate website. And which we believe is serving us well.
Within our means, is we had to do it ourselves. With the help of our IT expert, who graciously allowed to facilitate a transition of some of our website services, such as our emails, we did it ourselves.
From time to time, our IT expert helps us to navigate the more complicated staff, but overall, we do all the design work on our own, create content, upload it, and maintain our website.
It may seem simple for some, but for us it remains an ambitious project. Yes, we are still trying to figure out certain aspects that are needed to transform our website, beyond online presence.
We intend that our website should better fulfil our mission, particularly so the part about dissemination of technologies suitable and adaptable to the social cultural and economic conditions of Uganda.
Watch this space, our website, this here, is still one of our most ambitions DIY projects we are undertaking.
