Our moral obligation to speak out

Boldly using our online presence to speak out against dehumanization of women.

Many times I fear publishing content on our CPAR Uganda website blog, which may be misconstrued as ‘politically incorrect’ for a nonprofit organisation.

I do so anyway for I am reminded of our organisation’s vision and mission.

How will our organisation contribute to “building health communities in Uganda,” for example, if we fear to speak up against narratives that degrade 23.6 million Ugandans?

Yes, 51 percent of Uganda’s 45.9 million people are female.

How will our organisation achieve its mission, if we do not speak out against degradation?

And so, while I am scared of overtly sharing my opinions on issues that may cause potential funding partners not to fund our nonprofit activities, my leadership moral compass compels me to do the right thing.
