“This was a day I never imagined of, the journey started and ended with rain drops. The time I arrived at Dr. Paul Hargrave Memorial Center in Lira City, I was already dripping wet. My mattress, my bag and clothes were clinging to my skin. Every drop whispered how unprepared I was. The 10 hrs journey drained me before the night began. Inside the compound, I stood for a moment unsure of what to do next. Everything felt strange, the faces, the cold drizzling weather and air. I thought about turning back and going home where am used to sunshine and warm temperature rather than the freezing coldness. My thoughts wrestled between giving up and trying to fit in. Something shifted. The Team Leader, whom I mistook for the welfare mistress, because of her warm welcome. She offered a smile with directions …,” writes Kimtai.
He writes of his first day to the CPAR Youth Media Training, which started last month, November 2025, training youth, such as he into Media Change Agents, who are skilled behavioral change communicators.
Four weeks of intensive residential training later, from 1st December 2025, he embarks on the second part of his training journey – fieldwork. Applying and practicing lessons learned for the benefit of the community among which he lives.
