“The Vice President of Uganda … that’s such a beautiful colour… You just stand out. For a lot of reasons. You’re beautiful,” President Donald Trump said of our Vice President, Her Excellency, Hon. Major (rtd) Alupo Jessica.

This was at the White House, the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States (POTUS), currently President Trump.

POTUS Trump commented on Her Excellency Alupo’s dress and looks during the ceremony of “signing of the Washington Accords for Peace and Prosperity Between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Rwanda.”

In the video clip that I watched, the cameraman or woman stayed the camera focused on POTUS Trump and did not redirect it to Her Excellency Alupo, so we could have seen her reaction and of her fellow presidents gathered. I guess the camera person was unprepared for that off-the-cut remark.

There is no telling if the applause that followed the comment was simply polite or fully in agreement for POTUS to have singled out, I presume, the only woman president in the room and compliment her for her looks.

In that room, in the White House, Her Excellency Alupo, was technically the Head of State of the Republic of Uganda, duly delegated to represent His Excellency President Yoweri Kagutta Museveni.

I wonder if in his brief, POTUS was informed that Her Excellency Alupo underwent the Officer Cadet Course, and has served as a military officer in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), even though now retired from the UPDF.

I wonder if POTUS was made aware of Her Excellency Alupo’s academic acumen, including holding two Masters degrees – Master of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy; and a Masters in Public Administration and Management.

I wonder if POTUS was made aware that Her Excellency Alupo is a sitting Member of the 11^th Parliament (MP) of the Republic of Uganda, elected Woman MP Representing Katakwi District.

I wonder if POTUS was made aware that Her Excellency Alupo is a descendant of the fourth largest first nation of Uganda, Iteso.

I wonder what the POTUS description “for a lot of reasons” covers.

All I know, I general, Her Excellency Alupo is highly regarded in Uganda, in East Africa, in Africa and world over. She is, indeed, a significant role model to millions of Ugandans, of whom the majority population is female.
