Generously gives of his expertise

Stimulate the development, dissemination and widespread application of technologies suitable for Uganda is the mission of CPAR Uganda.

Under our Dr. Paul Hargrave Memorial Centre Human Development Project that we are jointly implementing with Canadian Physicians for Aid and Relief (CPAR), our lives are positively impacted by the generosity of the kind of man who gives of his knowledge and expertise.

This is our answer to today’s daily writing prompt: “Describe a man who has positively impacted your life.”

Without the legacy of Dr. Paul Hargrave (RIP) we would not have had the opportunity to have had access to the generous man who gives of his expertise, to our significant benefit.

So, first, let us tell you about Dr. Hargrave, may he continue to rest in power.

A legacy grant from the kin of Dr. Hargrave via CPAR has made our ongoing human development project possible and through which we got access to the generous man who gives of his expertise.

We acknowledge Mr. Philip Luswata and his team of experts. Mr. Luswata, the behavioral change communication expert, who has revolutionized how we go about storytelling for the greater good.

Mr. Luswata’s team that delivered our Youth Media Training, included technical experts who nourished us on the technical side of storytelling with images – photography and videography.

It is during one such succession, as part of our Youth Media Training Course (Cohort 1), that we were blown away by the generosity of Mr. Shantos Ssekito. Mr. Ssekito accepted to give us a two-hour masterclass in which he inspired us.

Mr. Ssekito left our learners buoyed and full of dreams that yes, they can. As he did, they too can bit by bit, one piece of sound equipment at a time, be able to acquire both the physical gadgets and the know how to become successful sound technicians.

By the way, Mr. Ssekito came to us on request from another man, whom he credits of generosity in similarly sharing knowledge with him and giving him an opportunity. “Emmanuel is the one who gave me my very first job in Uganda,” Mr. Ssekito testified to our youth learners.

At the time, according to Mr. Ssekito, he had basic equipment, and so the opportunity of a job is what enabled him to earn the money to acquire the full kit of sound equipment that one needs to effectively do the job and be contracted.

So, to all of them, men fitting the bill of “he generously gives of his expertise,” we say thank you!
