0.516 Human development Index (HDI) – ranking 162 out of 189 countries. Meaning Uganda’s average achievements in health, knowledge and standards of living of its population is low.

70 percent of Ugandans are not informed about community and national programmes.

65.5 percent of Uganda’s labour force is not transitioning into decent employment.

60 percent of employers are not satisfied with training provided by technical vocational education and training institutions in Uganda.

26 percent of Ugandans aged 10 years old and above are illiterate.

38.5 percent of pupils in Uganda who enroll in Primary 1 do not complete Primary 7.

12 percent of Ugandans aged 6-12 years old have never attended school.

3 percent of Ugandans aged 13-18 years old have never attended school.

6 percent of Ugandans aged 19-24 years old have never attended school.

In July 2020, the National Planning Authority (NPA) released Uganda’s Third National Development Plan (NDPIII) which covers the current five-year period 2020/21 to 2024/25.

These statistics herein shared are extracted from two chapters of NDPIII: Chapter 16 – Human Capital Development and Chapter 18 – Community Mobilization and Mindset Change.
