Poetry therapy – Bangi on war & peace

War and peace are always parallel.
Where there is peace there war finds it difficult to be.
Peace we invite you to be in our midst so that there is no war.
We want to test your sweetness peace.
We want peace to be felt in our heart forever.
Amen.

Bangi, a Primary School Pupil, made this drawing and wrote this poem.

At the height of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) insurgency in Northern Uganda, CPAR Uganda (at the time the country office of Canadian Physicians for Aid and Relief) implemented a Peace Building Project in Gulu. As part of the project, primary school pupils were encouraged to express themselves through drawings and writing.
