Today, 12th July 2023, starting now, 09:00 a.m EST (04:00 p.m in Uganda), over a period of 15 hours and while funds last, as part of its July Bonus Day Campaign, GlobalGiving is donating a total of US$ 400,000 (nearly 1.5 billion shillings) in matching grants to hundreds of its partner nonprofit organisations located and working all over the world.

CPAR Uganda is among such nonprofit organisations who may benefit from this awesome gift from GlobalGiving and we need your help to do so. When you donate to CPAR Uganda a donation of USD 100 or more, GlobalGiving will match it up to 50 percent as follows:

While funds remain, the following matching structure will apply:

• Donations of $100 – $499 USD will be matched at 30%
• Donations of $500 – $749 USD will be matched at 40%
• Donations of $750 – $1,000 USD will be matched at 50%

Project 1: 100 women demand right to menstruate with dignity: Menstruating with dignity is a human right many Ugandan women are denied. We need to generate empirical data to confirm our hypothesis that the majority of establishments in Uganda do not adequately provide period-friendly toilets; and Ugandan women are silently accepting this anomaly; a violation of our rights. We want to raise consciousness among Ugandan men and women about indignities women go through when period-friendly toilets are not provided. Project 2: 200 Women of Ochelakur and Entebbe Access Finance: This project will facilitate households of disadvantaged traditionally fishing communities no longer permitted fishing livelihoods due to government fishing restrictions on Lake Kyoga and Victoria transition to livelihood options and improved quality of life. 200 women will access finance and financial literacy; be able to start and or operate viable businesses through which they will earn a living; and be able to meet the basic needs – food, water, clothes, shelter – of their households.
