Photography tips for ethical fundraising

One of the major benefits that we are getting from our partnership with GlobalGiving is the opportunity to access great knowledge resources that challenge and inspire us to do better.

For example, via email, I received GlobalGiving’s recommended “The Best of Learn:2021”; and among them an article: “16 Practical Photography Tips for Ethical Fundraising.” Tips which make you reflect on your work.

Tip Two: “Select photos that reflect your values. Think about your organization’s values, and choose photos that support and reinforce them.”

This really caught my attention. I stopped reading and thought to myself, what are the values of our organisation, CPAR Uganda, and the answer did not come automatically natural to me, and yet it should have.

Thoroughly embarrassed, I went searching our organisation’s institutional memory so as to discover what the stated values of our organisation are; and whether we live up to them in our work. I re-learnt that the stated values of CPAR Uganda, termed Our Core values are:

  • Transparency
  • Teamwork
  • Result-Oriented
  • Equal Opportunities

I know that for our project in partnership with GlobalGiving, Mentoring Young Adults into Innovators Against Poverty, our organisation’s values are evident. In fact, they are the very foundation on which our access to the GlobalGiving crowd fundraising is hinged.
