Interesting how today’s prompt finds us doing project conceptualization and budgeting for our tuberculosis (TB) research project.

Our participatory budgeting approach is within the spirit of our values – transparency and results oriented:

Base all budgets for new projects on similar actual expenses and learning from previous projects we have implemented.

Consultation, consultation, consultation, every step of the way. We consult with representatives of the targeted beneficiaries to find out what is most suitable and affordable. And with others with experience implementing similar projects.

Be guided by a detailed project planning matrix.

We use the ZOPP approach” (Zielorientierte Projektplanung, or GOPP- Goal Oriented Project Planning) to develop a detailed project planning matrix for each project.

A good ZOPP matrix contains clear planned inputs that are need to execute the project. It is the inputs that guide us in determining the budget components and estimates.
