Mitigate effects of oil extraction via stakeholder engagement

This morning, I have enjoyed reading “Challenges and opportunities of stakeholder engagement for the sustainable development of Uganda’s petroleum extraction sub-sector.” Thank you Csl Paul Mukiibi

This is among those articles that should be compulsory reading for all members of the Parliament of Uganda, politicians within local governments and all leaders of civil society organizations genuinely active in promoting citizen and human rights.

It was great to learn about the existing legal instruments which provide opportunities for effective stakeholder engagement. And to confirm my own suspicions that there are gaps that enable oil companies to get away with it, so to speak.

I am tickled as an active citizen. I am among millions who have neglected our duty to take up and occupy our space as stakeholders. That ends today.

Csl Mukiibi, thank you for inspiring me into action and for providing a useful tool from whence I can begin to hold our duty bearers to accountable. My first blog inspired by your article is coming out today. A blessed day to you.
