Jot down the first thing that comes to your mind.

To kin of late Dr. Paul Hargrave, who in his memory grant gifts to Ugandans that keep on giving, we, at CPAR Uganda, are forever grateful.

First, they and their communities in Canada raised funds which enabled construction and equipping of the first building complex at our CPAR Uganda Dr, Paul Hargrave Memorial Centre in Lira City.

And they continue to support the operation and expansion of the Centre. The latest being a legacy grant in 2025 from kin of late Dr. Hargrave via Canadian Physicians for Aid and Relief (CPAR),

A grant that is enabling us, jointly with CPAR, to implement our Dr. Paul Hargrave Memorial Centre Human Development Project. A project which targets to train 180 youth as change agents:

  • Self-Reliant Participatory Development (SRPD) Change Agents
  • Media Change Agents
  • Research Change Agents

These past two weeks we conducted an 11-day Photography Masterclass for 23 youth, under the training of Media Change Agents component of our Dr. Paul Hargrave Memorial Centre Human Development Project.

We are grateful to the Master Instructor for generously giving us his time, knowledge and expertise. It was an intense and a practical learning packed session, hands on, with youth from Karamoja, Acholi, Teso, Bukedi and Lango.

Stimulating the development, dissemination and widespread application of technologies suitable and adaptable to Uganda is the mission of CPAR Uganda. It is Day 1 of the CPAR Photography Masterclass at CPAR Uganda Dr. Paul Hargrave Memorial Centre in Lira City.

Stimulate the development, dissemination and widespread application of technologies suitable and adaptable for Uganda is the mission of CPAR Uganda.“With the knowledge I got from CPAR Uganda I will go and serve the community. Teaching photography to youth and kids in the community. Creating awareness on social issues – environmental conservation and health in the community. Using photographs to promote local talent and businesses,” wrote one of the beneficiaries of the CPAR Photography Masterclass, in answer to the question, how will use the knowledge you got from the masterclass.

Similar sentiments were expressed by all other beneficiaries. And so, we cannot but be grateful for the success of the masterclass in achieving our CPAR Uganda mission to stimulate the development, dissemination and widespread application of technologies suitable and adaptable for Uganda.

Journey mercies to Class II of our Media Change Agents in training, as they journey back home. We are hopeful they will implement their learning for the greater good of their home communities.

For now, our Dr. Paul Hargrave Memorial Centre has quietened down for a couple of weeks, until we receive the next class.

Due to popular demand, we will conduct another training of SRPD Change Agents on Income Generation. Those who applied and are on the waiting list, your invitation notifications are on the way.

We are grateful to be able to that for which our nonprofit was established.
