Dig up grass lawns and grow food

Stimulate development, dissemination and widespread application of technologies suitable for Uganda is the mission of CPAR Uganda.

The rain season approaches.

Instead of your lawns being a cost center – tall grass that needs you to pay lawn mower operators to cut it – dig up the grass and grow food.

Yes, you can.

Mix it up. Grow short-term leafy green vegetables. Add banana plants and fruit trees. Add tubers – sweet potatoes and cassava. Add spices and herbs.

It may not be enough for all year food security, but at least you will have taken control of a significant portion of your food system – from seed to plate.

Yes, yes, yes. I have already planted my dodo and okra at our Dr. Paul Hargrave Memorial Centre here in Lira City. In a month time, my leafy green vegetables will be ready!
